- 12-24 hours (steeping)
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground coffee (good rich roast)
- 8 quarts cold water
- Milk or half & half
- Sweetened condensed milk
Steps
- Place the ground coffee into a large container.
- Pour in 8 quarts cold water.
- Give it a stir to make sure all the grounds are wet.
- Then place the lid on the container and let sit on the counter at room temperature for 12-24 hours.
- Lay some cheesecloth in a fine mesh strainer. Slowly pour the coffee/water mixture through the strainer and into a clean container or vat.
- At the end, gently press the grounds with a spoon to make sure all the liquid makes it through.
- Discard the cheesecloth with the grounds inside (it’s a mess).
- Place the vat in the refrigerator and allow the coffee concentrate to cool.
- To serve the coffee, dispense the concentrate into a glass filled with ice.
- Splash in milk or half & half.
- Add some sweetened condensed milk.
- Stir to mix. Serve immediately.
