Untitled — No-Yeast Bread (Instructions Continued)
- Source
- Handwritten notebook page (page 2 of a multi-page recipe; page 1/ingredient list not present in this scan batch)
Note: this page is labeled “Bread cont. (pg 2)” — the ingredient list was on a preceding page that is not part of this scan batch. Only the instructions (continued) and some pan-size notes were captured here.
Ingredients
- [illegible — ingredient list is on a missing preceding page]
Steps
- Combine water and vinegar.
- While stirring, add water mixture to flour. Stir until dough forms.
- Turn dough out onto floured surface; knead for 2-3 mins.
- Shape into a flat round disk about 1½" high. Place on baking sheet or pizza pan.
- Dip a sharp knife into flour, then cut an X on top of loaf.
- Bake in oven at 400° for 30-40 mins, or until golden brown.
- If desired, brush top with milk halfway through baking.
- When done, remove and while still hot, brush with melted butter.
Notes
- “Do not use loaf pan (will not cook through) — only 1½” high in baking sheet."
- A second page of notes (pan-size diagram) accompanies this recipe, showing loaf dimensions: “Adult” loaf 9" x 6", “Childs” loaf 7½" x 5". Also notes for electric skillet settings: “A - 7” or 7½", C - 5-5½"." These appear to be sizing/portioning references for shaping the dough, not a separate recipe.
